P80 Frame: Precision Platform for Custom Builds
For builders who demand uncompromised control over their firearm’s ergonomics and performance, the p80 frame represents a foundational component in the DIY handgun market. Manufactured by Polymer80, this frame serves as the structural core for a fully customizable pistol, offering a 80% completion state that requires final machining of critical fire-control pockets. As a serialized and FFL-transferable component, this frame bridges the gap between a raw blank and a functional receiver, providing the end user with the latitude to select every subsequent part according to their specific build philosophy.
Overview
The p80 frame is engineered from a high-impact, glass-reinforced polymer designed to withstand the cyclic stresses of repeated firing cycles. Unlike traditional one-piece frames, this unit incorporates a modular fire-control housing that accepts standard small parts, including trigger assemblies, slide lock springs, and magazine catches. The frame geometry follows a classic duty contour with an integrated accessory rail, optimized for both rapid target acquisition and comfortable carry. Each frame is precision-molded to exacting tolerances, ensuring interface compatibility with aftermarket slides, barrels, and trigger systems. This is not a finished receiver; it requires the user to complete the final machining steps on the trigger housing pocket, rear rail module, and locking block pin holes before assembly.
Features & Specs
Polymer80 utilizes a proprietary polymer blend that offers superior impact resistance and dimensional stability compared to standard nylon-based frames. The frame features a textured grip surface with aggressive stippling patterns for positive hand retention under adverse conditions. A cut-out trigger guard allows for higher grip placement, reducing muzzle rise during rapid fire. The integrated Picatinny-style rail accommodates lights and lasers without additional adapters. Key specifications include a standard 1913 accessory rail footprint, compatibility with Glock Gen 3 internals, and a reinforced dust cover for slide durability.
- Material: Glass-reinforced polymer with UV-stabilized additives for long-term structural integrity.
- Compatibility: Accepts standard Gen 3 trigger housings, locking blocks, and slide components for straightforward part selection.
- Machining Requirements: Requires removal of three tabs and drilling of pin holes using included jig and drill bit set.
Who It’s For
This p80 frame is intended for experienced firearm builders who possess the technical aptitude to complete the final machining processes with precision hand tools. It is not a drop-in solution. The ideal user has a working understanding of fire-control group geometry, pin alignment, and function-check protocols. This frame suits the enthusiast who values component selection over pre-assembled products, allowing for tailored trigger weights, slide profiles, and barrel lengths. Builders who already maintain a stock of Gen 3-compatible parts will find this frame a logical addition to their project inventory. It is also appropriate for individuals who prefer to disassemble and reassemble their firearms for routine maintenance and part upgrades.
Shipping & FFL
This p80 frame is classified as a firearm frame by the ATF and must be transferred through a Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer. Upon purchase, the frame will be shipped to the FFL holder you designate during checkout. Please verify that your selected FFL dealer accepts serialized 80% frames and that they will complete the required background check and Form 4473 prior to transfer. Shipping is available to all states where the purchase of a handgun frame is legal. International shipping is not available. The buyer assumes full responsibility for compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding the possession and transfer of firearm frames. No frame will be shipped without a valid FFL on file.
- All frames ship with required ATF marking and serial number for legal transfer.
- Provide your FFL’s current license and contact information at time of order.
- Allow 7-10 business days for processing and shipping to your chosen FFL location.
